"His seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before Me; It shall be established forever like the moon, even like the faithful witness in the sky." Psalm 89:36-37
Today we will witness a wonderful event but don't look up at the sun without the proper vision protection. A total Eclipse hasn't happened like this in quite some time. It is a sign of God's handiwork, the evidence of His grand design. The moon doesn't have it's own light though, it simply reflects the light of the sun.
Jesus said that the Church is the light for this world, a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:14). Like the moon the light we reflect is not ours, but the light of the Son. The moon also governs the tides of the earth, and in one sense God has given the Church the ability (under HIs hand) to influence the tides of revival. Millions of people are caught up in an event God orchestrated when He spoke creation into existence. It is not a mistake that you and I are alive to witness His handiwork. God loves us unconditionally and His Words are life giving.
In light of the recent ongoing events across our country we need to be a church that reflects the rays of the Son, we need to be like the moon and reflect the light. While you enjoy today's Eclipse don't forget to remember who made it all happen and how we can be Jesus to a lost and dying world.
